To coincide with Weightloss Wednesday on my other blog, La Vie de Laurie, the Nike + iPod Sport Kit would be an awesome addition to my workouts. I love my iPod, and I love using it when I workout. Why not transform my nano into a personal workout coach? It features a sensor and receiver combination that works exclusively with Nike+ shoes and iPod nano to give you real-time feedback during workouts and let you track your performance on your Mac or PC. As your run or walk, the sensor sends information to your iPod, tracking your time, distance, pace, and calories burned. |
If you choose, real-time, spoken feedback can even alert you to milestones throughout your workout. Pretty cool, huh? The upside is that it’s not very expensive. The downside is that you also have to buy a pair of the Nike+ shoes, and those run a cool $100+ per pair. There are some super cute ones though and you can personalize them. I spent almost an hour designing my own PERFECT shoe, down to my name etched on the heel. Oprah did it, so why shouldn’t I? I’m almost tempted. – $29.00

While we were at dinner tonight, Dave asked me what I’d like to do for Valentine’s Day. Last year we went to Simply Fondue which was fun. I told him I’d like to do that again this year too, so I think that’s the plan. We haven’t discussed gifts, but I usually like to make him a little basket filled with things he likes and little treats. I would say I’d like flowers, but that’s not really his style. He thinks they are a waste of money because they just die in a few days. I see his point, but I still like to get them sometimes. I found a great alternative though– Edible Arangements Valentine’s Day Berry Chocolate Bouquet™. |
They deliver, so you get that special feeling of “getting flowers,” but instead of throwing them away when they die, you can enjoy the tasty fruit for days. One of my friends got one of these as a thank-you present and loved it. – $65 to $200
| There’s nothing wrong with a little self-gifting. Valentine’s Day is coming up, and this COACH Signature Stripe Reversible Tote would be the perfect accessory this season. My favorite right now is the khaki and punch color. Many stores are full of cute pink tops, and this would be the perfect complement. I said in my last post, I’m becoming quite fond of the pink and brown color scheme– that might be part of why I like this bag. I bought a wristlet that matches today, so I’m thinking it could use a friend. I already have a large stripe tote, and it is super roomy and great for carrying lots of stuff. I really like this smaller size too. The only con is that they don’t monogram this color. – $268 |

It’s Weightloss Wednesday today, so I was looking for fitness related items. My co-worker Gwen hooked me up with a gift card to Nordstrom for my birthday. I still have it and have been contemplating what to use it on. I think these Puma ‘La Bamba’ Athletic Shoes would be perfect. I’ve been into the whole pink and brown color combo lately. They look like they’d be really comfortable, light, and easy to throw in a bag and take to the gym. It also helps that I recently bought a shirt that would match them perfectly. – $69.95 |
| My co-workers got me Godiva Truffles as a part of my wonderful birthday basket. I am now addicted. They were absolutely yummy. I had a bag of individually wrapped strawberry ones, and the minute the last one was eaten… I was craving more. I went to the mall in Plano today after work. It has it’s very own Godiva shop. Somehow I resisted the yummy goodness of the truffles and didn’t even go in, but it wasn’t easy. All I could think about was how many calories each one must have, and how many hours I would have to workout in order to just end up even. I haven’t completely blown my diet yet, so I’m just going to continue dreaming about them. I bet the other flavors are fantastic too. – $65+/- |

My favorite jewelry maker (besides Tiffany, of course) is James Avery. I have so many pieces of jewelry from there– I have truly lost count. I am way more fond of sterling silver than of gold. Dave got me these earrings for my birthday, and this butterfly ring for Christmas. It’s become increasingly harder to select anything for a “wishlist” anymore. I feel like I have so much already, and most anything I want I go ahead and purchase for myself. I’ve decided that I’d now like to start a charm bracelet. I never had one growing up (except for the silly plastic ones with the bells from the 80’s– does anyone else remember those?!) |
I’d like the Flower of Hope Charm (above) to be the first addition to my bracelet. I think this will be fun because he can buy me a charm for each occasion, and he really won’t need any input from me– there are hundreds of ones that I would love. – $27

In honor of Weightloss Wednesday over on La Vie de Laurie today, I wanted to talk about a piece of exercise equipment I’d love to own. I’ve been dying to buy one of those huge balls ever since I was at a friend’s house, and did about five push-ups. Do you know how sore I was the next day? I guess it’s proof that they really work. Does anyone else have one? Thumbs up, or down? I’m curious. This Core Secrets with DVD Instruction set is on my list. It’s nice that it comes with workout DVDs– I think that will help keep me motivated. There’s also a pump, so I won’t be all out of breath from blowing the thing up! And I still have Target gift-card monies! – $39.99 |
| I used to be a Bath & Body Works junkie. There was a time that I couldn’t walk into a mall without finding myself in there buying something. Their semi-annual sale usually sucks me in and I stock up for the year. I still have stuff I bought in there several years ago, so I cut myself off. Every once in awhile I’ll buy something for someone else there, but that’s it. My new obsession is The Body Shop. LOVE that place. They always have it smelling like Satsuma and Exotic, my two favorite home fragrance scents– which is the combo I do at home too. Over the holidays I went in there to pick up a gift for a friend, and I got a sample of Cassis Rose Eau de Toilette. |
 |
My all-time favorite Victoria’s Secret scent was Her Majesty’s Rose, and this is as close as I have ever come to finding something like it. I love light rose scents. I need to go grab a bigger bottle when my little sample runs out. – $14

I love the GAP. I give them extra kudos for introducing the RED line and giving 50% of the proceeds to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS. I bought the INSI(RED) t-shirt awhile back, and I thought this Gap (PRODUCT) RED™ burlap tote with fish designs would be the perfect accessory when I wear it. The pattern is inspired by “an intriguing African blanket from ages past, rich with history,” according to the site. I’ve been enjoying totes these days verses other kinds of bags simply because it’s so easy to just toss things in and go. I put everything from bottles of water to mail and even small shopping bags in the tote I carry now. Sometimes I even toss in a pair of flip flops if I’m wearing heels. This one looks especially roomy– perfect for an afternoon shopping spree.– $98 |
