| Q. What do you get when you cross a rabbit with an oyster? A. The Oyster Bunny. That’s a fabulous joke for Easter, right? Considering Dave and I just got back from having Red Lobster for dinner… it’s perfect! We didn’t partake in any oysters though, and it’s a good thing since I wasn’t “Oyster Aware” until tonight when I read the facts at BeOysterAware.com. Oysters are serious business and NOT a joke. |

Did you know that consuming raw Gulf oysters can be deadly to those that already have liver disease, iron overload disease (hemochromatosis), diabetes, cancer (including lymphoma, leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease), stomach disorders, or any illness or medical condition that weakens the body’s immune system? Wow. That’s majorly scary stuff. I’ve never been an oyster eater myself, and I don’t have any of these conditions BUT I know people that do. I plan to spread the word. You should too. Check out more facts on the website.

| We all know crack is whack, but Hershey’s is not making it hard to say no. I am addicted to their new 100 Calorie Pretzel Bars. Only 100 calories? Really it’s just a couple of pretzels covered in milk chocolate. When you think about it, it’s kind of a lot of calories for what you get. Still, I don’t care. They make a really great treat, especially if you only have a Smart Ones or Lean Cuisine for lunch. It feels like cheating, but you’re not. I found them on sale again this week at Target. — $2 (sale) |

| Our anniversary is next Tuesday, and it is kind of a tradition that we return to the Gaylord Texan where our reception was held each year. They have a Murder Mystery Dinner, and so far it has been different each year. |
 |
It is usually really fun and we have ended up sitting with other couples which makes it fun too. They have a yummy buffet with lots of different choices including desert, so it’s kind of like a bonus that you get to watch the show too. In addition, you get free parking which is good since the hotel charges an arm and a leg. – $55/person

Since my friend and I stopped at Culver’s on the way back from San Antionio, I am obsessed. Ever heard of a butter burger before? I know I hadn’t. The only thing I can say to describe them is that they remind me of Steak ‘n Shake burgers. |
I made sure to look on the back of my placemat to find that there is a Culver’s in Flower Mound, less than ten minutes from here. My mouth has been watering for a caramel cashew sundae since that weekend, so I talked Dave into it. The prices are very reasonable (we both got desert too), and while it is not In-N-Out… it’ll do for now. – $13.50
| It’s time for the Never Ending Pasta Bowl at Olive Garden! Too bad Dave just took me last week as a surprise. It happens to be one of my favorite places– I am sure all the real Italian folks are shaking their fists as me right now. I know it’s just a chain, but I really love it. Since I can’t go again so soon, I thought I’d help spread the word. Enjoy all the warm, yummy breadsticks and delicious salad you want before chowing down on the pasta. Have some alfredo for me! – $8.95 |

You probably know that Dave and I are moving to Frisco in October. We dropped by our house to see how the building process is going, and he suggested we stop for pizza on the way home. I knew exactly where I wanted to go. While shopping in town a few weeks ago, I spotted Gatti Town. They have a little train that drives around the parking lot. I haven’t been to a Mr. Gatti’s since I was a kid. |
This one is way cooler than any Chuck-E-Cheese (at least the ones without the robots). It had a pretty nice size arcade with games I haven’t seen at places like Dave & Busters or GameWorks. They also have four themed rooms. We sat in the theater room, which happened to be playing Happy Feet. They also do complementary face painting too. I was really impressed. The pizza was so-so, but if we’re talking about an overall experience, it was awesome! I can’t wait until our nieces come to visit, or until Baby William is old enough to go! – about $8 per person

Have you been dying to try one of the the more pricey resaturants in Dallas? Places like III Forks, Ruth’s Chris and Nobu would usually lighten your wallet by $100 or more per couple. |
How does $35 per person for a three course meal sound? That’s the price during the annual Dallas Restaurant Week in which over 100 upscale establishments offer the fixed price meals to benefit the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home. This year the event will be August 13 through August 19 (some are accepting reservations through Aug. 26 or Sep. 2). If you check out the link above, you will find all of the participating resaturants and their phone numbers. You have to make a reservation and let them know you want to participate in the special.
In addition, Central Market is offering certificates for a Fourth Course at certain participating restaurants that can also be found on the list. It will be fun to get a bunch of friends together, dress up, and support this wonderful program. – $35/person for three course meal
| A new restaurant called Jimmy John’s Gormet Sandwiches just opened up in Lewisville yesterday. It just so happens to be right across the street from our pad, so we dropped by for an early lunch. Dave’s sister was raving about it when she was in town last week. I love to get italian sandwiches at all the sub shops, so I stuck with that. Mine was really good actually. I accidentally ordered the one with double meat and cheese which was a little much. |
 |
D ordered a turkey with no mayo or sprouts, but he ended up getting mayo on it anyway. They are about $4-5 a piece, but I think it was worth it. I still like Potbelly better, but it’s better than Quizno’s or Subway in my eyes. – around $5

Have you heard of Sprinkles Cupcakes? Apparently they are the new big thing in Dallas. They are originally from Beverly Hills, and boast a clientele list with the likes of Katie Holmes and my idol, Oprah Winfrey. They must be good. They have over 20 Flavors that all sound amazing. |
I love that they list what days of the week each is available on the website. This month the special cupcake is lemon blueberry, and my mouth is absolutely watering. A friend from work and I were talking about taking a trip over there this week. They also have doggie cupcakes, so I will have to pick up a few for Brownie too. The only catch is they are kind of pricey. A friend of mine spent over $50 for a little over a dozen to take to her parent’s house for a dinner party. – $3.25 each / $2.50 each for the doggie version
| I am OBSESSED with Bob’s Sweet Stripe Mints. Ever had those melt in your mouth butter mints at a wedding or family gathering? My grandma used to have them around her house, so the taste is a memory for me. These peppermint ones are even better though– just beware because they are addictive. I am excited that I can get 160 for such a good price. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! – $6.65 |
